WiFi QR code
WiFi QR Code Generator – Share Your Network by Scan. No watermark added by QuickConvertOnline. Free, no account needed.
About WiFi QR code
The WiFi QR code generator creates a code that phones read as network settings. Guests point their camera at it and tap to join, without asking for the password or typing a long string of characters. Enter the network name, the password and the security type.
The code uses the standard WIFI: format that most current iPhone and Android camera apps understand. It is created in your browser, so your network password is never sent to a server.
How to use WiFi QR code
- Enter the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears in your WiFi list, including capitals and spaces.
- Enter the password and choose the security type: WPA / WPA2, WEP or None.
- Scan the preview with your phone to confirm it joins the network.
- Download the code as PNG or SVG and print or display it where guests can see it.
Features
- Supports WPA/WPA2, WEP and open networks without a password.
- Escapes semicolons, commas, colons, quotes and backslashes in names and passwords so they decode correctly.
- The password is encoded in the code itself; nothing is stored or uploaded.
- Custom colors, four error correction levels and PNG or SVG output.
Common uses
- Letting house guests join your home WiFi without reading out the password.
- Displaying guest network access at a café, hotel, office reception or holiday rental.
- Framing a code next to the router for family members’ new devices.
Tips
- Use a separate guest network if the code will be posted in public; anyone who scans it gets the password.
- If you change your WiFi password, generate and print a new code.
Frequently asked questions
Which security type should I pick?
Choose WPA / WPA2 for almost all modern routers, including those set to WPA2-Personal. Pick WEP only for very old equipment that still uses it, and None for open networks without a password, in which case the password field is ignored.
Is the WiFi password visible to people who scan the code?
Yes. The password is stored as plain text inside the code because phones need it to connect, and some scanner apps display it. Treat a printed code like a written-down password and use a guest network for public places.
Why does my phone not connect after scanning?
Most failures come from a typo in the network name or password, including wrong capitalization or a trailing space, or from choosing the wrong security type. Check both fields against your router settings and scan the preview again before printing.
Can I make a code for a hidden network?
There is no hidden-network option, so the code is designed for networks that broadcast their name. If your network is hidden, test the code on the devices your guests use before relying on it, or make the guest network visible.
Do I need an app to scan a WiFi QR code?
Usually not. The built-in camera on most recent iPhone and Android phones recognizes WiFi codes and offers to join the network. Older phones may need a QR scanner app.
