Text QR code
Text QR Code Generator – Encode Any Plain Text. No watermark added by QuickConvertOnline. Free, no account needed.
About Text QR code
The text QR code generator stores plain text in a code. When someone scans it, their phone simply displays the text, with no website, app account or internet connection needed to read it. It suits short notes, codes, instructions and messages.
Text is encoded as UTF-8, so accented letters, other alphabets and emoji are supported, and line breaks are kept. The code is created in your browser and the text is never uploaded, which makes it practical for content you do not want stored on a QR service.

Frequently asked questions
How much text fits in a QR code?
At Low error correction a QR code holds about 2,950 bytes. Basic Latin letters take one byte each, accented letters two and most Chinese or Japanese characters three, so the limit in characters depends on the language. The tool tells you when the text is too long.
Does the scanner need internet to read the text?
No. The text is stored in the code itself, so a scanner can show it offline. A connection is only needed to open things like links, and only to load the linked page.
Will a web address typed here open as a link?
Many scanners detect a web address in plain text and offer to open it, but behavior varies. For codes meant to open a website, use the URL tab, which also checks that the link is complete.
Can I encode text in Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic?
Yes. All text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, which most modern scanners decode correctly. Characters outside the basic Latin alphabet take more bytes, so the same length of text makes a larger, denser code.
