About Calendar event QR code
The calendar event QR code generator encodes a meeting, class, party or appointment in iCalendar format. When scanned with a supporting app, the phone offers to add the event with its title, start time, end time and location, so people do not have to copy details by hand.
Times are stored as floating local time, without a time zone, so 7:00 PM stays 7:00 PM on every phone. That suits in-person events. For online events with attendees in several time zones, mention the time zone in the title.
How to use Calendar event QR code
- Enter the event title.
- Pick the start and end date and time; the end must be after the start.

Features
- Builds an iCalendar event with title, start, end and optional location.
- Uses floating local times that show the same clock time on every device.
- Checks that both times are set and that the end comes after the start.
- Escapes commas, semicolons and line breaks in the title and location.

Frequently asked questions
Do all phones add the event when scanning?
No. Support for calendar codes varies. Some scanners offer to add the event, while others only show its text. Test with the phones your guests use, and print the date and time next to the code as well.
How are time zones handled?
Times are saved without a time zone, as floating local time. A 6:00 PM start appears as 6:00 PM on any phone, wherever it is. That is right for in-person events, but people in other time zones will not see a converted time.
Can I make an all-day or recurring event?
No. The form takes a start and end date and time for a single event. For an all-day event, set the start to the beginning of the day and the end to the end of the day.
Can I add a description or link to the event?
The form has fields for title, start, end and location only. You can put a short note in the title or location, but keep it brief, since every character makes the code denser.
