About Add watermark

Add watermark stamps a word or block of text across the pages of a PDF. It starts with a typical watermark layout, centered, angled at 30 degrees and 30 percent opaque, so the mark is clearly visible while the page underneath stays readable.

Mark drafts before review, label copies as confidential, or put your name on samples you send to clients. Everything is applied in your browser, so unreleased documents are never uploaded, and you can watermark up to 12 PDFs with the same settings in one go.

How to use Add watermark

  1. Drop one or more PDFs onto the page or select Choose PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text, such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, and choose the font size and color.
  3. Adjust Scale, Opacity and Rotation, or drag the watermark on the preview to move it away from the center.
  4. Leave the Pages field blank to stamp every page, or enter a range.
  5. Select Apply and download the PDF, or a ZIP for several files.

Features

  • Text watermarks of one or more lines, in any color and font sizes from 6 to 100.
  • Starts centered at 30% opacity and a 30° angle, and every setting can be adjusted.
  • Opacity from 5% to 100% and rotation from -180° to 180°.
  • Stamps every page or a chosen range, at the same relative position on each page.
  • Drawn into the page content rather than added as a comment that a viewer can hide.
  • Watermarks up to 12 PDFs in one run.

Common uses

  • Marking a contract or report as DRAFT before sending it for review.
  • Labeling internal documents as CONFIDENTIAL.
  • Stamping SAMPLE or PROOF on designs and quotes sent to clients.
  • Adding a recipient's name to a copy so leaked versions can be traced.

Tips

  • Light gray text at 15% to 30% opacity keeps body text easy to read.
  • Short, uppercase words make the clearest watermarks; long sentences become small when scaled to fit the page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a watermark to all pages of a PDF?

Type your watermark text, adjust its size, angle and opacity on the preview, and leave the Pages field blank. When you select Apply, the watermark is stamped in the same position on every page.

Can I use a logo as a watermark?

This tool stamps text. To use a logo, open Add images to PDF, choose the logo, set Opacity to around 20% to 30% and clear the Pages field so it appears on every page.

Can someone remove the watermark?

The watermark is drawn into each page's content, not added as a comment that can be hidden with one click. Someone with PDF editing software can still edit page content, so treat a watermark as a clear label and deterrent, not as security.

Is the watermark text searchable?

No. The watermark is rendered as a sharp image layer so it looks the same in every viewer. It will not show up in search results within the PDF or interfere with copying the original text.
