Text to Base64
Encode Unicode text as Base64 using UTF-8 bytes. Handle accented letters and emoji locally, then copy or download the encoded plain-text result.
About Text to Base64
Text to Base64 encodes the UTF-8 bytes of a string as Base64 characters. It is useful when a system expects textual data to be carried in a Base64 field rather than as literal text.
Base64 is an encoding, not encryption. Anyone who has the encoded value can decode it. The input can contain accented letters, non-Latin scripts and emoji because the conversion starts from UTF-8 bytes rather than treating each JavaScript character as a byte.
How to use Text to Base64
- Paste or open the plain text you want to encode.
- Keep Encode selected in the toolbar.
- Inspect the Base64 output and check for unintended leading spaces or line breaks in your source.
- Copy or download the encoded value; choose Decode if you want to check the round trip.
Features
- Encodes text as UTF-8 before applying Base64.
- Supports non-ASCII text, including many scripts and emoji.
- Provides Encode and Decode modes in the same editor.
- Outputs plain Base64 rather than an image or data-URI prefix.
Common uses
- Preparing a text field for an API that explicitly expects Base64.
- Creating a small encoding example for documentation or a test.
- Checking how Unicode characters change the encoded bytes.
Tips
- Use Base64 to image for an image payload, and URL encoding when the destination specifically requires percent-encoded text.
Frequently asked questions
Does Base64 protect a secret?
No. It is reversible without a key. Use an appropriate encryption system when the content must be confidential.
Why does an emoji produce more output than a letter?
An emoji usually occupies more UTF-8 bytes than an ASCII letter. Base64 encodes those bytes, not a count of displayed symbols.
Will spaces and line breaks be encoded?
Yes. They are part of the original string. Remove unwanted whitespace before encoding if the destination expects a different value.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
The tool processes the text in this page, on your device. It does not send the input to a conversion service or save it to an account. Advertising and ordinary website requests are separate from this local text processing. Copy or download any result you want to keep before leaving the tool.
