About AVIF converter
The AVIF converter encodes images in AVIF, a newer format that can deliver very small files for photos on the web. It uses your browser’s own image encoder, so whether AVIF export works depends on the browser you are using. If AVIF is not available, the tool tells you and creates no file.
It also works in the other direction: open an AVIF image and save it as PNG, JPG or WebP for apps that cannot read AVIF yet. Up to 20 images can be processed together, quality is adjustable, and every file stays on your device throughout.
How to use AVIF converter

- Choose AVIF as the output format, or PNG, JPG or WebP to convert an AVIF file into something more compatible.
- Adjust the Quality slider and compare the result size with the original.
- Download the result, or use Download ZIP for a batch.
Features

- Serve AVIF on websites with a JPG or WebP fallback for older browsers.
Frequently asked questions
Why does it say my browser cannot export AVIF?
The converter relies on the browser’s built-in encoder, and not every browser can write AVIF files even if it can display them. When encoding is unavailable, no file is created. Try a different browser, or pick WebP for a similarly compact result.
Can I convert AVIF to JPG or PNG?
Yes. Open the AVIF image and choose JPG, PNG or WebP as the output format. This works in any browser that can display AVIF, which includes current versions of the major browsers.
Is AVIF smaller than WebP?
For photos, AVIF often produces smaller files than WebP at similar visual quality, but results vary from image to image. Convert the same picture to both formats here and compare the sizes shown in the result panel.
Does AVIF support transparency?
Yes, the AVIF format can store an alpha channel, so transparent areas can be kept. If you convert an AVIF to JPG, though, transparency is replaced with a white background, because JPG cannot store it.
